WhatsApp in DialBots
Connect your WhatsApp Business number, let an AI bot answer on your behalf, and follow up unanswered calls with a message.
Connect a number
In the panel open WhatsApp and choose Connect. Meta’s sign-up window opens, you sign in with your Facebook account, pick or create your business portfolio and WhatsApp Business account, and verify the number. There are two ways to connect:
- New number: a number that is not used in the WhatsApp Business app. Supports messages and calling.
- Coexistence: you keep using the WhatsApp Business app on your phone and DialBots works alongside it. Messages only; calling is not available.
Connecting and disconnecting numbers needs an owner or admin signed in to the panel. It is not available to API keys.
The bot
The bot is tied to one DialBots agent, so it has a defined purpose and a knowledge base. It stays on your business topic, politely declines unrelated requests, and always says it is an AI when asked. It can hand a conversation over to your team, and you choose when it answers: always, during calling hours, or on a custom weekly schedule.
Meta’s policy does not allow general-purpose AI assistants on WhatsApp, which is why DialBots bots are limited to your own business.
Templates and follow-ups
Business-initiated messages outside the 24-hour customer service window must use templates approved by Meta. Create and track templates in the panel. A campaign can send a WhatsApp message to contacts whose call was not answered.
Billing
Messages are billed per message by category (marketing, utility, authentication) at Meta’s published rate plus a DialBots fee. The rate card in your workspace shows the exact amounts. A paid category with no rate is refused, never sent for free.
WhatsApp calling
Calling needs a Cloud API number that is not used in the Business app, a messaging limit of at least 2,000 messages a day, and a payment method on your WhatsApp Business account. Changes to calling settings reach all phones within 7 days.
Receiving events in your own system
Use webhooks for call and wallet events, and the WhatsApp endpoints in the API reference to read conversations and send messages. Reading needs whatsapp:read; sending and bot configuration need whatsapp:write.
